For my Holiday 2021 gift I explored 3D modeling/printing to produce a product from scratch. The ultimate goal was to create something that could comfortably reside on store shelves with the brands that inspired the project (Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids, and others). Because frogs are awesome, the theme I chose was pond-hopping in nature. For the disciplines I wanted to explore, a gummy candy treat was chosen.
The project began in Cinema 4D where I modeled a frog leg for the packaging illustration and to create an STL file for the next phase–3D printing.

Getting closer to the kitchen, but first, we must make a negative mold in food-grade silicone. This is a lengthy, sticky business, requiring a 24-hour cure time.
After developing a recipe, the gummies were cast and dried. The product was finished with a sugar/citric acid dusting for that classic sour candy pucker.
